CEO Oren Frank stated that they are extremely honored and excited to have Michael Phelps join the team, in fact, Phelps will not only be a part of their television campaign but will also hold a spot on the companies board of advisors. This move was strategically done due to the experience in living with mental illness that Phelps holds. The addition of Phelps onto the team will no doubt allow Talkspace to further improve on their already incredible service.
Although mental illness has been on the news quite often this year, the image that is most likely presented is that of a negative one. Connecting mental illness to mass shootings and the overuse of social media has not helped in finding help for those involve. The goal for Talkspace and Phelps through this campaign will not only be to bring awareness but to also help in removing the myths and stigmas of it. In addition, the company wants to include in that message that mental illness can happen even to the strongest of us, hence the inclusion of Michael Phelps. The campaign is set to begin on May 22nd.
